Welcome to Direct Mental Wellness. I am John BuAbbud, M.D. I graduated Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, TN in 2016. I started this private practice in 2018 while training in Psychiatry at Virginia Tech in Roanoke, VA. I was board certified in Psychiatry in 2020. I am a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc., a member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties. I treat people with psychiatric and addiction disorders I treat people with psychiatric and addiction disorders in-person at offices in Roanoke and Johnson City, with house calls across Virginia and Tennessee and by tele-health across Virginia and Tennessee.

I specialize in helping people recover from trauma including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Trauma, living with developmental diversity including Autism and disorders like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, mood disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, as well as thought disorders such as Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder.

I also specialize in helping people with addictions like Opioid Use Disorder seeking Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) with buprenorphine products, including Suboxone and Subutex, and other FDA approved treatments, including naltrexone for Alcohol Use Disorder and other conditions.

I bill patients directly for affordable monthly memberships and supply a “superbill” patients can present to insurance for reimbursement after each visit. I am out-of-network with all health insurance companies. I work directly for each patient. Patients may request home visits and in-person visits at their therapist’s office for Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, for managing controlled medication, when an in-person physical exam is necessary, and when patients are unable to travel to my offices in Roanoke and Johnson City. I treat professional patients in need of discreet mental health care. I am currently accepting new patients. Initial appointments are available within two weeks.
